Hi Dan. Thanks for the reply. That's what makes me nervous though. In our test account at a "1" block, we still get a ton of email with Subject and Content lines such as "Make the impossible, possible. Enlarge your P**** by 3" in Weeks." and other Pharmacy emails.

Plus, I don't think SpamAssassin works with @Mail external mail, right? I've never received an answer to this question- and I've asked many times in the past.

Thanks

The same here. I want to add my voice to those who have written in this thread in order to make Vortech take the necessary steps to fix this problems from the root.

I want to also encourage others to post here the need to have VT fix this ASAP. I want to say that I've been a happy VT customer for the past 4 years at least, but the email problems have made me loose clients and, most of all, loose a lot of time giving dumb explainations to my clients about why the services they have contracted with us don't work properly.

I think these issues with emails (very long delay times, emails that are never received, constant email server errors, etc...) are the most important problems I've ever experienced with VT and for that reason, I think they have to give very specific and special attention to them.

Vortech customers: please post here your feelings to publicly encourage Vortech to find a solution once and for all. Remember how your clients call you about this and how many clients you've lost about it. Make Vortech know it so that we can receive a public statement about what steps will be taken to improve the situation and not only "explanaitions" about why it doesn't work. Those explainations should be appreciated, but if a lot of other hosting companies have the services running "well" we should get at least the same for our constant loyalty. We are and should be patient, but on the basis of a concrete course of action to solve the problem and not only on explainations of why the things are like they are. Patience is not eternal and business is notably decreasing.

Thank you for your attention.

I'm getting calls from my clients as well. I truly appreciate the explanation given to us. It makes sense. Damn those spammers. Even I am having problems, missing, slow, delayed and more often now, duplicates!

But in all honesty, the explanation to my customers does not stop me from losing business. Working email does.

Above all other things, email must go through. Downed sites, pokey DB's; I'll take those any day of the week. Email problems on the other hand...

My question is: What is everyone else doing right? Other hosting companies that I hear about having fantastic mail, it just works and all the other spewage that people tell me.

Other hosts, MSN, Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo! Mail etc. The mail just goes through. Click>Send>Delivered. Beyond the multi-billion dollar a year names and the other obvious, what are they doing that we're not?

I am just looking at the VT thread here for the first time. Some of my customers are reporting emails just don't get received by the recipients... no bounce message, no error message... no NDRs... nothing. Is this what others are experiencing, or is this issue separate?

I'll probably wind up losing a few customers as they are getting to the end of their patience now...

I would imagine that this problem is not unique to VT though...

I turned it on a while back and it worked very well but the last two days it has not worked at all from what I can tell. We pay by bandwidth here and spam accounts for an overcharge of $400 or more each month.

Losing customers left and right

Here is an e-mail that I just received:
"I seem to be having a significant problem with my e-mail. Half the time, people aren't receiving them even though I do not get any failure notices. Sometimes, I get double e-mails. Sometimes, I cannot reply to the e-mails I receive. It has become disruptive and resulted in a signifcant amount of wasted time by having to resend multiple times."

I just talked to him and he is fed up and ready to leave. He is not the only one, I am getting complaints all the time and have already moved my own website to a different hosting service because of the e-mail problems.

In which mail server is your customer?

Is anyone else having problems with duplicates and triplicates? Of course that is for my clients messages - still waiting on tech support to provide ONE answer?

Duplicates usually mean there is a corrupt message stuck on the server. Login with webmail and see if you can identify the mesaage that is causing the problem.

Except it has been happening across 5-6 mailboxes and 2-3 domains...

The duplicates & triplicates have been happening to my domains for the pas week or so.

I'm also receiving strange subject "headers" from SpamAssasin, as if it has processed some messages multiple times. For example, the messages' "Subject:" field from a SPamAssasing-processed message a few minutes ago reads:

Subject Subject Subject [SPAM] Look 20 years younger instantly

Not sure what's going on, but mail is certainly acting up lately!

If these duplicated messages are being seen on a mail client, and not on the web mail client application it can happen because the connection is dropped sometime during mail dowload before the receive ack message is sent back to the mail server telling the server that the messages have been received. The server in that case would "think" there are unsend messages, an sends them again.
Look on the web mail interface for the account to see if the message is a single message or if there are multiple copies on the server to see if the above is a factor. If there are multiple message copies, the cause is something else

Here's my latest customer complaint regarding undelivered emails (this is through MAIL12):

"I sent several emails Saturday morning that were critical and have had several people tell me they did not get them. I was sending them to the *domain* email addresses from my retirement e-mail address. Can you check on this? Thanks.

Mike B>"

On a different note, I wonder if SpamAssassin doesn't work when you access @Mail because @Mail email is imported BEFORE SA's filtering. That's why I asked in a prior email what the email flowchart is, since for email, we are working with mail servers, @Mail, SpamAssassin, and Blackberry POP email systems.

I too have users with missing emails (mail7) and no bounce errors.

@mail is just an IMAP interface, it accesses the mail server just like outlook would in realtime.
