6/3/03 New SPAM Blocking Measures

we'll i for one havent had much (if any) trouble with my email lately. keep up the good work i say and hopfuly the issues will get resolved soon.

Anyway, SPAM is an issue we all have to deal with and the resources that pay the most are the servers that is for sure!

SO, I am for RBL blocking and I also like spamhaus as well. There is no perfect way to block spam and everybody needs to understand that!

If your customer is on a server that is blacklisted and you are indeed and "Internet Professional" then you need to make them aware of that and let them know why they should not be using the provider they are to ensure they can talk to anyone they want. Chances are if they can't talk to you, they can't talk to other people as well!

I just read this thread from top to bottom as I have been "busy" with other things and I have just a couple of comments to add then I am done.

I think you all had good points on this issue and I am sitting back easy going knowing that Matrix will do what they can that is best for us all!

I am not going to quote anything that was said but am going to say this in response.

Vixen, I think you had some good things to say but you need to not respond at all sometimes when the quality of the discussion has degraded like it did in this thread a couple of times. Sometimes no response is better than any response at all! (What is your role with Matrix anyway, do you work there or are you offsite and monitor this forum? This is merely an FYI for me and you can PM me if you want.)
And, as usual, thanks <b>admin</b> for coming back in at some point and giving us the "this is what is happening" which is really what all of us want anyway. Thanks for that and not feeding the frenzy of earlier!

I think I lost the plot a bit earlier today out of frustration and the fact that mys customers were getting on me.

I know that all at Matrix do a very fine job and have our interests as their top priority.

I'd like to retract the way I said a few things earlier and the tone I used occasionally.

Personally I'm still of the opinion that a mediocre email service with SPAM and periodic outages is better than none ...but... I did get a bit carried away in my posts.

Lets all hope that all issues get resolved quickly and put his thing to rest.

So she hears a lot of what is going on and what we are doing day to day, so she likes to give updates on issues as she does know kind of what is going, but not so much the tech side just an out side kind of point of view.. So also has sites with us so she also does not want to lose mail that for sure..

She is the first one to call me going what the F*ck is wrong with the mail server.. LoL

Is spam assasin for mail servers, or for local mail clients? Maybe you could shed some light if you've had any luck with spam software that can help local clients.

Yes I believe Spam Assasin can be setup on clients as well though I've only dealt with the Server setup of it to date.

For clients I would highly reccomend Spam Inspector right now, its not free but nothing worthwhile ever is.

And he is not lying about the mail. If I can't get my mail, I am yelling (probably louder than any of you). LoL

Which probably explains why your's generally seems to work even when ours isn't ... Brad's got his priorities right it seems

Starting Yesterday, I've suddenly gotten hit with SPAM on one of my domains. Until now, our site and email have been non-existant. We haven't used the account for anything public. It's lain dormant the entire time. Starting Wednesday, we've just gotten hit with SPAM. In one day, I've deleted about 20 SPAMs. They aren't targeting any of our actual accounts, but we get them through our catchall account. Does anybody have any idea what's been happening with all this. Why did everyone on Vortech's servers get slammed with email? Does anyone know what's happening?

Sorry but I didn't get slammed with the email and I have accounts on 2 different email servers here.

and yes your hosting is great because its one of the only (if not THE only) that supports cpanel and multiple domains. i love it.

this is just a discussion board... just because we yell at you doesnt mean we're mad at you, we're just trying to improve our hosting and your company.
