Vortech Hosting Announces Acquisition of RocketColo

ORLANDO, FL (9/1/05) - Vortech Incorporated (http://www.vortechhosting.com), a web hosting provider currently hosting over 120,000 domain names, announced today that it has acquired Florida based RocketColo.net (http://www.rocketcolo.net), a co-location and dedicated server provider.

The buyout, which was finalized on Thursday, included the RocketColo.net network, servers, and all other company assets. RocketColo.net is currently located in the same datacenter as Vortech Inc, so the transition is expected to be extremely smooth.

“We are hoping that by purchasing the assets of RocketColo, we will be able to grow our network and increase our customer base,” said Vortech Inc owner Brad Pugh.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Pugh says payment was made up front for the company, and he plans to immediately make beneficial changes for the company’s customers.

“All clients of RocketColo will enjoy additional connectivity at no additional charge, as we are including them in our network,” said Pugh. Connectivity to Progress Telcom, AT&T, Level(3), Sprint, and Cogent has been added.

In addition, customers of RocketColo.net will be offered an upgrade to 1000 GB of monthly bandwidth at no additional charge. No downtime is expected during the transition.

Vortech currently operates a cluster of 9 mail servers, 40 Windows servers, 20 FreeBSD Systems, 5 MySql, 8 MSsql servers.

I'm less than pleased with my transition at this point. Ordered a AMD564 3200 with 2 80 gig drives through rocketcolo 2 days ago and for my money I got a Pentium 2.8 w/ 1 80 gig drive from vortech 2 days later. Rocky start....

as you know we are in the middle of the transition and your server was the last one delt by the old management. We are working to improve rocket colo's service as fast as we can, but we just gained access to the servers and structure. We had NOTHING to do with this server or it's setup. We only took over the company last night around 9PM well after your order.

Question... are you going to continue to offer Plesk hosting from there?

We are working out everything now. We may offer FreeBSD Plesk, FreeBSD Cpanel. Not 100% sure we will offer linux. FreeBSD is so much easier to manage and update than linux.

As far as control panels I think Plesk and CPanel would be good and then a plan FreeBSD option for those that want to run there own stuff.

Thank you Admin! I ran through the configuration and I like what I see. One thing missing is a SQL server option. I'll PM you a link to what I was hoping for.

Are they fully managed?, i mean system and applications updates
Are backups managed?

There have not been any decisions made about possible new packages. These are just ideas that have been thrown around. I am sure once Brad decides anything he will let ya'll know.

I don't think they even had VPS setup at least nothing in what we got. LoL That will not be part of our offering since we already offer VPS under vortech.
