Mail8 Auth Database 8/12/2005
Due to the drive failure yesterday afternoon, the database on Mail8 that controls authentication and domain directory lookups had to be restored from backup. The backup date on that database was 8/9/2005 at 11:00am. As a result, any changes made in the last two days may not appear on the server.
Password changes can simply be re-applied in the control panel. Any new mail domains or mailboxes created in that time may not be authenticating. If you find yourself in this situation, please submit a ticket to support. In the vast majority of cases, we are able to reset the database information without recreating the accounts. |

Can't we just inform users to change/reset the passwords for accounts that do not authenticate?

That will work as long as the account appears in the auth database. If the account was created between noon on 8/9/05 and 4pm on 8/11/05, then they won't be in the database and H-Sphere will error trying to change the password. You would need to have support manually re-add them server-side if that is the case.
