As Long as it is Ultsearch , squating on the Domain , you can pretty well forget about it . He is a Legend in Domain Squating , and you are just one out of 1000 of his victims . Be happy that it is not your existing domain , and just some domain you want .

You can try to backorder it, but it's not cheap and I am not sure if every domain registrar does this. Did you try other options...like .biz etc... ?

You can backorder the domain at www.ringadingdesigns.biz. Sometimes it works. If a 'pro' is sitting on it, you may not have any alternative than to deal directly with the squatter. They probably are planning to sell it for a premium price.

Yeah your fighting a bit of a loosing battle now, with most registrars doing auto-renewals of domains before they expire its almost impossible to get one back without dealing with the squatter.

Seeings as i keep at least 6months on my domains i'm not worried about they being snagged. I alreday emailed one telling them i could only afford a nominal cost and not expect much as i can do without. I suppose i'll just check their expirations once in a while and perhaps i'll get lucky. I wonder if you copywrite a title, you could then force them to no longer use it? Prolly not i suppose.

Copyright law varies from country to country, and I have no idea what the copyright laws are like in Hong Kong (where Ultimate Search claims to be located). In general though, it's safe to say that a copyright can't be made retroactive, so unfortunately that idea won't work for you. Best of luck in picking up the domains one way or another though. Take care...

here is what you do...

have a child and name it wonderer, then you have name rights over the domain [which i think squatting on people's names is illegal isn't it]

if not, then this plan probably won't work....

As long as they use it as a pointer, no one can say a word about them keeping it.

I applaud the person who came up with the idea of buying domains in buy to resell at inflated prices. It was a truely enterprising idea that i'm sure made many people very rich. It still sucks though.

Domains are like anything else, first come first served.

Well from what he is saying that is not even an issue. Which was kinda my point. How can you really complain about someone having the domain you happen to want when they thought of it first?? At least that is how I look at it.

That would be like someone coming to me and saying they thought of Vixen Shop and how dare I have the name. Well, I thought of it and had it registered first. Basically, you snooze you loose.

There can be 100s of companies with the same name because companies are generally registered in their home state. You must have an office in another state to have your company registered in that state. The company name has very little to do with domain UNLESS you have it trademarked AND copyrighted

Now let's be serious here. How many people here actually own a trademark??

This is a simple case of someone wanting a domain someone else registered first. At least that is how I see it. And just because the person won't give it to them at the price they want, they are calling it squatting. Do we necessarily know that to b true?? No.

I have several domains that I use as pointers OR haven't finished developing sites and/or business plans for and I would not let someone try to bully me out of them either. I paid for them therefore they belong to me.

That would be like you buying the car or house that I later decided I wanted and then hollering cause you won't sell them to me for $15. You would laugh in my face, wouldn't you??
