Shopping carts that work with Vortech

I know this comes up from time to time, but I would like some recommendations on good shopping carts that work well with Vortech.

I tried OS Commerce, but there's a learning curve for customization that I don't have time for.

I prefer it to work on UNIX, but I'd like to know if some NT shopping carts are exceptional.

One little thing I'd like to have on the shopping cart is the ability for the cart to calculate quantity discounts. For example, quantity 1-9 is $1 each, but 10 or more is $0.90 each.

Any suggestions/solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
Mike

There are already quite a few posts on e commerce packages that work with vortech, im sure a quick search would come up with a few. However have a look at Candypress.com (asp classic). Its a fairly simple cart, and easy to customise. It works well with vortech, and will handle your discount needs.

If willing to go ASP, I'd agree (to a point) with Silverbug. Candypress is pretty good, though I have to say they've really gotten sloppy. Their code in their newer releases is about as messy as I've seen. Seems like they don't do much in the way of beta... but if you're willing to put some time into it, you can come out with a pretty decent cart.

It's too bad VT isn't supporting Magento cart at this point. Really a nice implementation of a feature-rich cart. Especially for what you're looking for - for discounting - their use of layered conditional statements is pretty unique in the commercial online store, but here you get it for nothing. Gotta love open source.

Yes, I've seen Candypress much in the old posts, but I am a little concerned about the recent talk about hacking (sql injection?).

I was hoping to hear about a new or improved shopping cart. Too bad about Magento not working here on VT.

Thanks for your comments.

For what its worth, I really like Product Cart by EarlyImpact. Written in asp. The latest version is fixed for the SQL Injection issue. BUT - It ain't free. ;-)

One fork of oSCommerce that has a lot of features is Freeway, it is the best for events, reservations as well being very good with products. I've tried a lot of different open source carts, there are a lot of them but every system out there needs to be customized to fit the need a bit.
I am running oSC and it works fine, generates a lot of sales but none work work that well on Vortech shared servers. I had it with time outs and service being unavailable so moved all the database based scripts to a VPS and really gained a lot of performance and reliability. Reports that consistently timed out on my account here, now return instantaneously. Still run our main static site on Vortech and I must say, it seems to have improved in performance in the last month or so.
Magento is very good, and has a modern polished look but to run it you should get a different host, an entry level VPS that would be suited for it is cheap now. If you have any reason to have a cart in the first place, selling and generating income, it is worth it to either get a dedicated or VPS account. VPS goes for as little as $20/month and dedicated start at about $60.
One major advantage of oSC is the hundreds of thousands users who can answer just about any question you might have.
I wrote my own cart in PHP5 that does exactly what I need, selling reservations for complex tour configurations, that is up and running but after the switch to the VPS, the old clunky oSC suddenly worked so well that we delayed switching over to the new cart until the end of our very seasonal season at the end of September. I gained a lot of respect for oSC after getting it onto a server that could do it justice.
