I sure hope @Mail settles down...I personally dont use it much, but I have a few customers that live by it. And they have good reasons to.

Thanks Matt

If you are having an issue I would recommend submitting a TT.

I'm not really a Webmail user, but some of my customers are... Can someone explain in plain-english what this POP3/IMAP is, and what the upcoming switch will mean to my customers?

[added] or more specifically, how do customers normally use the POP3 option and what would they do differently in IMAP?

Currently, with WebMail using POP3, there is a physical WebMail server, and your regular Mail server. When an email comes in to one of your accounts, a copy of each message is made and sent over to the Webmail server, resulting in double the volume of email stored on the servers.
With the Webmail server converted to IMAP, it simply 'reads' the physical messages on your mail server (when you login to webmail), without actually bringing a copy over. This will greatly reduce the load of stored email on the network, and should have a profound effect on the stability of the webmail system. Once you download your email from the mail server using Outlook or another email client (if you don't 'leave a copy'), those messages are no longer available for viewing in webmail.

In ANY case, if you choose to store your messages on the mail server (or webmail server), they are 'out of your control' and not nearly as safe/intact as storing them on your local computer, as we do not backup email messages at all.

Ahhh - thank you both. I'm admittedly ignorant on some of the server-side aspects of e-mail, so this explained it perfectly...
