Customer domain name name-server changes
Hi - just a weird and possible dumb question on my part: Up until now, I've been asking my hosting customers to change their own domain name name server entries at their registrar (Network Solutions, GoDaddy, etc.), or my web clients have just been sending me their registrar logins and letting me do this for them...
But, is there any way I can update these records on behalf of the customer without actually needing their registrar/domain account login? I mean, if I'm the technical contact for their new hosted space, can I just send a request to the domain registrar? I'm only asking because I have a larger client now how seems to have lost all their domain account records somewhere in their corporate beauracracy. They don't even know which registrar they're using. -- So what's an easy way for me to determine this, and submit my own name-server update request to the registrar? |

with NetSol you may still be able to do this via email, if you're a listed contact with a valid email address (I don't know, I haven't used them in years), but since most registrars user a password based interface these days, you're basically stuck with that.
If they cannot find the username/password info they need to gain access, they can either call and hope to get a sympathetic person who will send them the info via the email address on file, or you'll have to submit a letter on company letterhead to offer proof of ownership. I cannot stress enough to people to backup their passwords, and to backup that backup. |
