Hey why not post it on WHT now?

Ok, I'm personally done with this topic, I think it also needs to be handled privately. This issue will/does not come up much, and it is not likely that it will happen much in the future.

So Vixen, if had a site hosted with Yahoo Hosting and signed up directly with you for hosting instead, would you not accept me as a customer? Would you do background checks on my domain to see if I owed anyone money? Of course not. You would go ahead and set me up an account.

I would then upload my site to your servers. Now let's say I skipped out on Yahoo and didn't pay them the $100 I owed them. How would know that? You wouldn't.

That is why I think http://www.hostabuse.com/ is a GREAT IDEA!! Because then we could actually check to see who is skipping out on their bills and know not to give them an account.

As for knowing about outstanding bills with other hosts, check around on WHT. Hosts talk amongst themselves and they do share their deadbeats from time to time.

If a customer skips to another hosting provider and does not pay their previous bill(s), so be it. This is call risk. Don't get into business if you cannot take it. That is what 'collections' is for.

This situation we are discussing seems different (not a payment issue) and I still stand by my earlier post.

I would like to see this get resolved and I would like to be kept abreast on the situation. Please continue posting the info here, as it is a Customers Only Forum!

BTW: I am not a reseller, but have been in the business for a while.

This was not a billing issue. It has been resolved.
The only reason it got as escalated as it did was because the reseller in question thought it would be funny to make the guy wait till a "business day" to delete the account. Personally I think that just plain sucks...but thanks to this guy we will be reviewing our policy concerning getting involved with ANY reseller clients accounts and will adhere to strict rules from now on.

Obviously everyone missed my point. <shrug> Oh well.

Each reseller has their own company policies, same as Vortech does. And if things are done Monday - Friday, then who are we to intervene?? We didn't always have all the resources we have now.

Before any intervention, perhaps it’s best to air on the side of ‘fairness’ – is the only reason that reseller ‘A’ won’t let reseller ‘B’ move to another host that stipulated here? Out of curiosity … is any monies owed, ie. Domain / hosting? Could that be the reason reseller ‘A’ won’t release the client’s domain?

If this isn’t the case, then I think that Reseller ‘A’ has no grounds to withhold anything……. Though I’m still of the opinion that this should have been settled privately and not as it has been for all to view…. Especially if (and NOT taking sides here) we don’t know the full details.

So you really seem to agree with both sides?
I totally see Vixens point and agree with her 100%.. in this case though, no monies were owed and the reseller in question was being a jerk.
Also, the end client contacted me directly. The reseller has a 30 day money back guaranee on his site. No developement was done for end user, he was using site Studio himself. The fact that hostdime won't even defend himself because he knows he was wrong AND the client called me on my personal extension on my personal phone in my personal office..thus invading my personal space..mean to me that all bets are off on this guy.

When your clients start to contact us for support and to solve YOUR problems then you don't have the right to say anything about it. Thats just my opinion, and our ploicy will remain that we will in no way interefer with this kind of thing again.

Eh? Not missing the point and agreeing with one are 'two' different things. But your right, in one sense, I do try to look at things from both angles rather than 'just the line I'm being fed'.

I'm pleased it’s resolved.... But is it not possible that the 'client' contacted you in this case - because they where either asked to encouraged to?

I never mentioned Vortech to the customer. I'm assuming they did some research and figured it out for themselves.

nope,, the guy looked us up all by himself. Checked florida BBB and Attorney Generals office records and found the 3 owners of Vortech,, I just happened to be the 1 owner who got the call.
If you look at the chat transcript, the guy was askin for Craig Smith from the get go.
