Webmail

I know this has been brought up before, but I am interested in setting up SquirrelMail or a new version of IMP for my clients. The problem is that I'm strictly an ASP dude, and my attempts at setting up SquirrelMail (which is supposed to be the easier one to set up of the two) on my Windows box here have been totally unsuccessful.

I was wondering, would anyone who has had success with either (or another) rendition on windows be willing to share their code?

I need a webmail with spell check ASAP, I will have to work this out on my own more than likely.

Any particular reason you want this on Windows? Just curious.

just because it's there I guess. which is a lousy reason I know, but such is life. I develop on ASP, never ventured into PHP, so the idea of attempting anything on a linux box gives me the shivers. someday, but not today.

There is a PHP app that I have sucessfully run on an NT 4.0 Web server one time, it worked great. It is called UebiMiau, it can be found at http://www.uebimiau.sili.com.br/

If you are interested in that you can take a shot at it, I found it super easy to modify and customize for my needs, but I am adept to PHP styled programming. But you should be able to handle it.
If you would like I would be willing to do customization and installation services for you for a reasonable price, or other compensation.

is there a way to disable the default mail.mydomain.com redirect? if i do get some sort of default webmail thing set up, I'd like it to replace that ugly beast for my users.

Concerning the mail.mydomain.com, from what I've heard it isn't possible, something else to scream at Psoft about.

same here ... ASP guy ... know nuts abt PHP. if u're interested, take a look at JMail (www.jmailbox.org). Tried it out, not too bad, what I like about it is I understand how it works so I can easily customise it ... just need to find the time to do it though .

IMP is not that hard to setup. You just have to RTFM.

If you want a simple setup, there is just 2 apps to install and a couple of config files to change...

But please do install only the stable version. CVS is a MESS.

JMailbox requires a custom COm control doesn't it?

BTW, The UebiMaiu code is AWFUL now, I don't know what they did to destroy it since I used it last, now the PHP sessions don't expire and it is easy to hack, uhh awful!

I believe most will like the Outlookish interface, and the spellcheck. You can get the program for yourself from the link at the bottom of the app. (NOTE: By default it deletes your new mail from the server and stores them in a MySQL DB, so PLEASE go to the config screen and check the "leave mail on server" box.)

Scroller, thanks for the link. I set up Jmailbox in 10 minutes flat, and since it's all ASP I know I can make any changes I need to down thr road. No bells and whistles (not even an address book, yet), but looks to be stable and fairly quick.
It leaves a lot to be desired in the features department, so other suggestions are welcome!

FYI, landiserve, Jmailbox requires Jmail pro, which is already installed on the server (apparently).
