anybody running an exchange server?

hey, it's me again... still struggling with this mac to windows migration and email issue...

i think i could do this with IMAP, but i do not have an imap server to use --- is that something that is part of an exchange server environment?

If so, would someone be willing to let me set up a temporary account to transfer these emails (we are talking about quite a few emails)?

or if anyone has any insight or alternate solutions for me that would be great!

I am merely but a speck of dust within Brangwyns' collective brain-mass but I'm not sure how IMAP will help you - has been a while since I used it. I guess if it will synscronise from your offline to online mail then you're in business. It's for viewing your emails live - online (I don't think it downloads them). It can be setup with most email clients by selecting IMAP instead of POP when creating the account.

I suspect what boot's thinking of doing is just connecting via IMAP with the existing client, creating an IMAP folder, transferring all mail to the folder, then connecting with the new client and downloading it again.

All you'll need to do is setup a mailbox on Vortech, and then just change your email client settings to connect via IMAP instead of POP to the new mailbox and you should be able to do this.

i did start doing this today -- however, i got a message that i exceeded my daily limit (hmmm) i wonder what that means?

i can't believe it took me so long to get to this solution... anyone know how i could set up some kind of IMAP thing locally (without exchange????)

Grab Mercury mail .. note I'm assuming your wanting a Win32 mail server.

Take a look at their mail client too, for free software it's pretty good .. and I gotta point out its made down under!
