search engine submittal
Hey Everyone,
Got a question . . . Last month I submitted my site to the major search engines (using the link from the control panel) and initially everthing was fine. The site appeared on all the major engines (Google, Yahoo, etc) for about a wekk. Then, suddenly, two days ago, it disappeared from all of them. Any ideas as to why this happened. Anyone else experience this? |

There are never any guarantees with search engine submissions. There are so many factors that go into ranking high, and then you have to consider that not all search engines are alike.
You can start here - http://www.iboost.com/promote/index.html My suggestion is to learn as much as possible if you're really interested in how to do well manually, otherwise if you're willing to spend some money, go for pay-per-click at Overture and Google. |

I spent ALOT of money with Overture and got minimal results. I personally would recommend FindWhat. I get alot more for my money there.

ive used overture and googles adwords, and i would put my money on googles adwords. have had much better results from them.
but like jmbeach said, there are NEVER any guarantees with search engines. imho if you want to start getting your site to rank high in the serch engines you really need to spend alot of time in that area. Otherwise get someone else who specialise in it to do it. |

How much do you spend on Google Ad Words a month (approximately). Has it gotten you a lot of clients?

i dont use it to get clients (i think that side of it is pretty much taken) but one of my client sites does (i manage that site)
do a seach for "rugby jerseys" in google and you will see it there, champions of the world or Rugby-union-shop.com we spend around NZ$100 p/month with them, and get about NZ$4000 worth of orders a month. |

er those values are wrong. It should be around NZ$300 p/month with adwords, and about NZ$500 worth of orders a month.

Silverbug:
are you saying that you do a total of NZ$500/month of orders through the site, or as a result of the marketing? |

Considering using google adwords myself sometime though I've been getting heaps of referrals so far so haven't needed to really advertise but I guess if I really want to expand I'm going to have to at some stage any feedback anyone has on adwords would be great
