NT16 problems?

Is Matrix doing something with NT16. I experienced some short outages yesterday, and it just now went down again.

Sounds like reboot, but I'm not sure. Please let me know if you're working on it.

Yea for some reason that system is having some issues in IIS and I have been unable to track it back to who is doing it. I have been watching it and trying to catch them.

I am working on it, it seems to come in go, We will have a 2 new systems online with in the next few days. I will also be putting 3 more windows servers online next week. I may ask some users to move off of NT16 to help it out..

The servers is a little more loaded then I would like but should of been able to handle the load.

Admin: 2 questions...

1. How many sites are on NT16?
2. If I moved to one of the new servers, would there be any downtime due to DNS resolution?

Thanks
Justin

1. How many sites are on NT16?

A: Looks like Users - 615. It looks like it sliped by us and was on a little to long. NT17 is setup and will be online once tested by psoft. I have turned NT16 off and turned 2 other NT systems that have well under 400 users on the system.

But the system should be able to handle this load as its a dual PIII 1Ghz with 2GB of ram.. There are 2 other systems close to this and are having no issues.. That why i bleave something else may be a little funky.

2. If I moved to one of the new servers, would there be any downtime due to DNS resolution?

A: Yes there will be a little down time about 12 to 24 hours max.

We also have a huge problem with resellers just adding domains and never using them.. This is great but the issue here is even if a site is not being used on a windows system it still slows it down.. We have found 100's of users doing this they would just have things like this.

theredomain1.com
theredomain2.com
theredomain3.com
theredomain4.com
theredomain5.com
theredomain6.com

Not using any thing in there.. We email them and they said well we were testing things out back then. The domains were setup 6 months ago.. It would be very very helpful of every one to not just leave domains hanging around they don't need or use or are not real customers.

Is that 615 Resellers? Or 615 total domains?

I always thought a good max was 250...

I'm no network administrator, but it's a number I've heard before.

250 is great on NT we have 100's of servers running 500 or so not really a big deal..

250 is about what I would put on 1 PIII 1Ghz and 1 GB about 1/2 of servers..

What's the status of NT16?

I'm still constantly having the outages.

What is causing you to have to restart IIS every time? Is it doing it on its own, or are you having to watch over it?

Thanks

What I mean is we turned it off for new signups but we are still having issues getting it stable.. Any one that would like to switch servers let me know and we can move your site to a new system that is more stable.. We have not tested the server move the Psoft has added yet so the first 2 or 3 that ask for it should be sure they have every thing backed up.

Brad,

Please email me with the details on how to move our web site to a new server, and we will be glad to do it --provided that we do not have to pay anything for the server change (including install fees for the custom DLL which we need to have on the server hosting our online store). Hoping this will be the last time that we have to move our web site to a new server because of issues.

If you have custom settings like DLL's I would like to leave it there and find a few that don't have that.
