On thing not to forget is that the "slowdown" only occurs when you have the logo in your viewable area. So you "feel" it when you're going back at the top of a page per example.

Anyway, Flash advertising was not well perceived among the readers of online magazines and newspapers when they were introduced. You were there to get some news, not to have a slowdown. It all depends on what you do with your computer at the same time you browse the forum.

A solution could be to have the logo make one spin and then stop. Maybe we could have a "make it spin" button, so that people could still see the effect when they want to.

Flash is great for design, it doesn't have to always be animated imo.

Well, I really don't mind the flash BEING there, I don't like when it moves across the screen, in FRONT of what I am trying to read. I don't see the above logo as doing that, but we all have our own opinions. Yes I had the flash in the viewable area as well, I am not that dumb, and overall I think the pages actually loads faster on my dial-up at home than it ever did before!

I agree with Craig. Im sick of people complaining about slow connections, not that its annoying, but from a web-designer's point of view, to make everyone happy, you have to make quick loading pages that look boring. Its nice to see some flash every once in awhile or some cool graphics. Sure...they slow down the page for people on 56K but for me on cable, there is no such thing as a slow loading website. I mean, come on, its 2003, we have so much technology today, we shouldn't be held back by people that are surfing slow, I say, its your site... go for it!

To me static text pages to Flash on the internet is the equivalent of B&W TV to COLOR TV. It adds a whole new depth to the boring text only HTML pages of the past. Its eye candy man. If it was up to me I'd have lighting bolts and flames dancing across the pages with half-naked chics like on Vixens site...

I love ALL flash sites, they are the coolest. I mean if you using Netscape 4.0 or lower or that piece 'O crap mozilla browser then you don't deserve to see nice pages. In fact you should not even use a GUI, just stick to DOS and watch Leave it to Beaver re-uns in B&W on your grandmas TV...LOL

You've totally missed the point imo. I love flash site, I do develop in Flash, I just think it does not have its place everywhere. Some years ago, the biggest mistakes people did was to put a Flash intro that you couldn't skip.

I mean, we've seen your Flash job, it's great, fine, but as somebody else also mentionned, does it have to be animated all the time? I just think this is not really appropriate in a support forum. That's just my web builder opinion.

Maybe we could move this thread to your design forum? This is more a discussion about web design than about this specific site.

haha, I agree Craig...lol...Flash sites are definately cooler in my opinion too, much more interesting and fun to look at.

Honestly, who believes you need 2 to 2 1/2 inches of screen space wasted on a spinning Transformers logo & a pair of headphones? <-- Vortech, don't answer

On top of that, you can't get your menus to close because of it.

Stick to Flash on the first page of the site only. This way, the feeble customers that think Vortech is a good service ONLY BECAUSE THEY HAVE A FLASH ANIMATION can sign up from there
