Vortech Inc. .::. Hard Drive Upgrades on unix-unix4, unix14 & cpanel

Tomorrow morning 2am between 3am ET (Thursday, December 9th 2004) we will be upgrading or adding drives to a few systems. These systems are unix.hsphere.cc, unix1.hsphere.cc, unix2.hsphere.cc, unix3.hsphere.cc, unix4.hsphere.cc unix14.hsphere.cc and cpanel.nocspeed.com. This should only take about 5 - 10 minutes to install these drives. We only need to shut the system off slide the drive in to place and boot the system back up. The down time should be very short.

This upgrade will allow Vortech to have more space on the systems that need it. This is one more step on our road to provide the most stable systems and redundant network possible.

Can you alert us (in this thread, of course) when this job is complete? Tks.

BTW, this upgrade will affect the sites hosted in those servers? If so, I suppose that changes made in my site between backup and restore will be lost, right?

Cya.

Another question (not properly related with this thread):

When you reffer 2am between 3am ET , you mean 2am between 3am EST, what corresponds to UTC-05, right?

I'm from Europe so i need to "translate" hours

Unix14 has been down for 5 hours and counting. No updates, no info, no answer from support...

Nothing was lost on unix-unix4 or CPanel. Unix14 we had to pull from backups because the drive started to have issues and filled up from 85% and 100% some how from the time I posted this and james got started. Not sure how it did that yet, but will be looking to that. But top on the list is to get unix14 back online and working. Some sites should start working any time now and they will all come up as we move the sites back over to the server. If you uploaded anything in the last 24 hours it would be best to check those files.

Keep in mind that EDT (UTC -4 hrs) should be used during the warmer months, specifically from the first Sunday in April until the last Sunday in October. EST (UTC -5 hrs) is only for the winter months. There are some states and provinces that don't properly follow this rule, but the Orlando area in Florida is safe.

Working in the development side of a call centre, I had to learn this stuff. It's important that we make sure to call people exactly when they're sitting down to dinner, you know.

Actually, not all of Florida is Eastern. The part directly below Alabama (ie: Pensacola) is Central.

Just be glad you're not Indiana though.

Sorry for the off-topic-ness, but I thought some people might find this interesting.

And just what is so bad about living in Indiana other than there is nothing but race cars, cows and corn? The rest of the world has to change their clocks, we just roll with it

LOL Well, most parts of the state "just roll with it", and god bless you folks, you're easy to handle, but there's those two western corners that for some weird reason actually do change their clocks... Drives me nuts. See if you can do something about that, will ya?
