Moving a customer site with SSL

I am pretty sure I have all the info I need... but just to be sure...

I currently have an HSphere account elsewhere... one of my customers has their site on an IIS5 server. I installed an SSL cert for them. I copied the text for the SSL Certificate Signing Request, Temporary SSL certificate, SSL Server Private Key, and the key that was issued by GeoTrust to the domain name (i.e. I still have it all on file).

But all it is, is just the text that was sent to me, or what appeared in the boxes in the Hspere control panel for the domain in question.

So now I am looking at moving to Matrix. Do I have all that I need to successfully move that SSL cert? I have read about how to move SSL certs, but all the instructions talk about exporting from the IIS manager... which I don't have access to... and the admins at the current service say they cannot export the key pair.

Ultimately, if it doesn't work, then I will pay to replace my customer's key. Its probably worth it overall, as the reseller price I am being charged per month is quite high.

Thanks guys!

You need both the Certificate key and file pair. I also found a article calling it both the key and the certificate. All means the same thing. You need both.

Hmmm I still don't know if I have everything I need then.

When I bought the SSL certificate, I never got an actual file to install... just a bunch of text. Instructed to cut and paste the text into the proper window in HSphere.

Is the pair in this case the Server Private Key, and the key issued to me by GeoTrust?

And since I copied those pieces of text from the SSL screens, I should be able to add them to a new location, assuming the server type is still IIS5, and domain name stays the same?

Should be able to yes, I've just had a customer do that and it worked without any hitches.
