Got a New Toy . . . Need Your Help

Got a new toy a couple days ago . . . a Motorola Q smart phone.

Looking for suggestions on what software/applications you utilize on your Windows Mobile device.

I mean if it wasn't for you all I would have never discovered Firefox and now I'll never look back.

Suggestions? Thanks Gang!!

Most spb software apps are great or must haves http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/?en

WiFiFoFum for a bit of mobile War Walking http://www.aspecto-software.com/rw/a...ons/wififofum/

Not much else I have loaded personally, used to have tons of things but generally now just find I don't need a lot of fluff installed on my device (JAMin)

I do find Jeyo Mobile Extender quite handy for text messaging when I've got the phone attached to the PC for charging etc though http://www.jeyo.com/extender.asp

Looks like a very nice phone, though Motorola sure makes it difficult to find technical specs on it. Motorola's "Full Specifications" doesn't even mention the Windows" or "brew" once, so I'm left guessing...
- What version of Windows Mobile does the Q run on? (5?)
- And; What exactly is "Brew"?

I've seen a few requests for Motorola Q support on the Opera forums, though I can't remember seeing any official responses. So I have no idea if/when or why not Q/Brew will be supported. Though given Opera's broad device/platform support, I'd be very surprised if a version that you could run on the Q isn't already in the making...

Though I don't get this at all. I can find Opera mobile for what seems like everything but the kitchen sink, so why the Moto Q isn't supported beats me...
- Windows Mobile, Pocket PC (both WM 2003 and WM 5.0)
- Windows Mobile Smartphone 2003
- Opera for BREW (Scroll down a bit, it's several Casio phones)

Though I guess if nothing else works, you could give Opera Mini a go (it's a free JM2e app). It has one killer feature that actually often makes me prefer it over the "regular version" available for my phone's platform (Symbian Series 60). GPRS usage is billed pr kb here in Norway (at about $3.20 pr MB), mobile browsing can as such become rather expensive. With Opera Mini all pages are zipped at a proxy before transmitted to the phone, resulting in large savings. Regular web pages often pages comes in at 1/8 of the original...

Personally I just stick with the standard PIE it does a pretty good job of rendering sites on a small screen in single columns etc anyway

I've tried Minimo but it is WAY slow on my treo 700w ... I just stick with PIE since I haven't found one yet that is as efficient.

You can try Google Maps for moble phone, it has basic restaurants finder, traffic stats. Not sure if it'll work on your Q though, their FAQ said BREW phones are not supported.

Couple of other apps (not free though):
MemMaid - optimize memory and other handy utilities

WorldMate - good if you travel a lot
