I'm afraid keeping backup servers does no good if drives fail.

I don't really have an accurate ETA, but if everything goes smoothly then most sites should at least be up in 30 min or so.

So, as of right now, the server is up but the data drive is down. Is that correct?

The servers fine and it would take hours if we had 100 servers or no servers.

Read some of the old posts when servers die. We can't just move 30+ gigs of data very fast. None of this would be happening had the controls panels scripts not screwed up the server worse. We can only work with what psoft gives us and we know there tools inside and out. There are 3 techs now working on this plus me, I will give an update as soon as we really have something to update with, when moving data there is not much to say or give until it's done. If we don't post that means nothing has changed in the status and it's still down and YES we are working on it.

Can I get a realistic time estimate as to how long untill the sites are back up?

Hi Brad, I realise eta's are one of those things that are very hard to predict. however maybe you guys should start recording how long thing take to do in these situations and give everyone some estimates. ie last time this happened it took about this long to resolve. but the average time has been X hours.

Or maybe we should have a page/log somewhere where we go over what happened and the times it took? then you can just refer everyone to that.

anyway keep up the good work, and restore the S's and N's first haha

I have a customer on this box as well (NT33) and just got the call about their site being down... I'm not calling in because I see this thread, but it would be nice to know the time zones that these posts are coming from because I see the last post at 12:46PM, but I don't know what time zone that is. Right now it's 1:43PM MST and I assume your server times are EST, correct?

Well, in any case, once this message posts, I should have some idea of when the last update was...

Are we still looking at hrs before sites are back up?

Permissions are being restored. Sites will come back online as these are fixed. I'm using my own script rather than the psoft script. It seems to be moving along fairly fast. It's on 'e' right now, but it may take another few hours for it to complete.

Make sure your timezone setting in your forum profile is correct, and the timestamps will then all be in your local timezone.

David,

This is VERY IMPORTANT. On our site we use MS Access to support an ordering system. The files that you're restoring is OUT OF DATE! This means that many products that were added are MISSING. and people could be ordering items at WRONG PRICES. Some of the latest TRANSACTIONS are MISSING. I REALLY NEED THE LATEST FILES. AT LEAST FROM TUESDAY NIGHT. WHAT IS THE SOLUTION? This is driving my clients mad! I'm trying to put a temp index page to stop people enter and ordering anything but FTP is not allowing me!

I guess that's a good reason to not use Access. I use SiteShelter to back up my changed web files every night.

For those wondering, it is on 'K'. It is just about done with 50% of the folders.
