Mail11 - 12/12/06
We're currently experiencing heavy volumes of SMTP traffic on mail11. We're aware of the problems it is causing and we're working on a solution. Thank you for your patience.

Josh, this has been going on for at least 24 hours. Are you any closer now than you were yesterday? Was this seen as a high priority yesterday or just now?
I ask this because I'm trying to gauge whether we will be down all day again or if there is a hope that email will be working again. Thanks for your hard work. |

Is they a reason or cause for a random mail server having issues each week?
Is there something that us as resellers can do? besides spam the forum and ticket system? |

Is anyone still having trouble? I am receiving my emails on mail11 hours late and other people are getting bounce backs and duplicates.
Could someone from Vortech PLEASE post here and let us know what is going on with mail11. This is happening in the middle of a business day! |

Email is no longer sitting in our Outbox and some of it seems to end up at the right place after a few minutes - other emails are MIA. Emails sent to account on this server are Missing in Action as well. What is the current status?

Yes an update would be great, cause my customers are still complaining about duplicate emails and lack of email.
This is getting serious since many of my customers really rely on email as a means of communication... so their business is being compromised, and productivity has dropped. Any update that I could relay to my customer base would be great. |

Things are looking better now. I haven't seen any SMTP errors in 30 minutes. We're still monitoring the issue of course.

Here are a few questions I have (and I'm assuming others would like to know the answers as well):
1. Why did it take over 24 hours to solve? 2. What was wrong? 3. What has been put in place to prevent this from happening again? I have a new client coming onboard who is "scheduled" to be on mail11 and if anything like this happens, they will be gone within a day or two. Guys - I always appreciate your hard work but your communication skills were far from good. Great communication makes EVERYONE happier!! |

Yes, I would like the answers to those questions also.
Especially the question: "What has been put in place to prevent this from happening again?". The problems on mail11 have been ongoing for months now and it is costing us business which in turn is going to cost you business. We deserve a detailed explanation as to what the problem was and what was done to correct it. |

Can we get a simple tech description of the problem with mail11? My customers are asking for it.
And, is it fixed permanately? I have had these same problems with mail11 since I put domains on it. Thanks |

What is the problem?
I am assuming that the people posting to these forums are resellers, and not end users. This means that we have to have at least some technical knowledge. I personally am an IT consultant and provide hosting through vortech for my clients. Telling us that there is a problem or that there is a large volume of smtp traffic is not in the least bit helpful. Especially, since Vortech's business is to provide shared hosting for thousands of domains. I would expect, as part of my business, for there to be large volumes of smtp traffice. This issue has been going on since this time yesterday. Can someone please provide us with an explanation of the problem, and please be technical in the explanation? I don't think this is too much to ask.

Agreed.
I do run a consulting firm, and with the recent email issues a lot of my customers and potential future customers are lacking confidence in the services I can provide. When an issue does occur with email, I would like to provide a technical explanation, besides the "high SMTP traffic" response. |

I absolutely agree with previous 2 responses, my customers on maill11 are losing confidence fast. Vortech ows us better communication that that. If it happens this bad again, I will probably loose customers.
