Microsoft Clustering on Oracle DB

Anyone have any experience using MSCS on Oracle DB? We have a full 3-tier application which is having some serious performance problem btw the application tier and the db tier. We have 2 IBM App server (clustered) and 2 IBM DB server is on a MCSC master-slave mode ... and it's really slow in returning data to the web service call from the app server. We tested the same software in a test enivornment whereby the web services for the application server and the oracle db sits in the same box ... and it's very fast. no problem at all. running out of ideas ... anyone can shed some light? much appreciated.

Had little experience with Oracle, though from the description you've written I would be looking into possible Network issues, are the front-ends and the DB in the same sub-net ?

yap! when we did the test on a single box, all the network settings are the same, so should be a network issue. I'm just wondering, does MSCS adds a siginificant overhead on the speed?
can't get it how that Oracle runs faster on a single P4 2.4 box with 512MB RAM than a Quad P4 3.0 box with 4GB of RAM???

Clustering shouldn't add much of an overhead, but if the network isn't setup right then it can cause a heap of trouble or at least used too anyway (don't think I've really played with clustering server since the early wolfpack days)

What type of cluster is it? WLBS, NLB, CLB

Dual-homed servers?

Maybe you can get some help from here too http://www.tek-tips.com/threadminder.cfm?pid=737&page=1
