Nt1

We are aware of customers experiencing issues with pages loading on NT1. Specifically ASP failures and Jet engine errors. I'm making sure the box has the latest gear to handle this, and also looking into some individual accounts that may be increasing the load a bit too far.

We'll update this further as details become available.

NT28 Was having the exact same problem the other day... Several of my domains were effectively crippled for a while. Then I got the email about the SSL being disabled and thought maybe they were related...

Looks like a lot of people are running Jet database engine queries on NT1. The usage load was high today, and seems to have settled down.

NT1 Open Recordsets or Database Connections

Hello Folks

For NT1 users, just wondering if it could be that any of us might have any opened database connections (constantly open) or opened recordset in our ASP code and forgot to close it. My guess IIS on NT1 is crashing because of this after every (my estimate) 7-8 hours. These open connections are a killer for IIS Process.

Thanks

Jet does have its limitations though, from my experience even when all the code running on the server is good ie connections being closed and destroyed if theres too many access applications running it eventually breaks.

Well, thats true, but even with ODBC Microsoft Access Driver & SQL OLEDB or Jet Data, the same errors are showing on IIS. So, no matter which database connection you use, if you don't close the database connection or destroy it, its gonna cause a resource or memory leak, leading to IIS having numerous open connections. Eventually, IIS crashes because of running out of resources. The problem is ASP doesn't allow to run more then one query on a single data connection, so it spawns another connection and another and so on, driving itself crazy :--) . I'm prettty sure this will error check fix the problem on NT1.

ODBC and Access DB's is banned around here, don't even mention the word

Problem is with the number of domains on the server it's needle in a haystack stuff for Techs to look for sites that may potentially be culprits for poor connection management, so the problem won't just go away that easily.

Theres been several of us here for years that have preeched the benefits of managing your connections but it doesn't really do much good considering we're only a handful of the thousands of resellers that Votech has (of which maybe a few 100 regularly use the forums anyway).

I am also STILL having issues on NT1. Right now I can't edit a new Candy Press Store... I get "System resource exceeded" every time the DB is hit for something. All DB gnereated pages are also down in this customers site....

Just reopened my original ticket for NT1....

Arrgghhh!
