Its planned but we are waiting for psoft to build in support for shout cast and windows media server. We will not be supporting real server because of the high cost.

I did some searching on PSofts forum, and it looks like a rep from PSoft was saying last year in April that it was going to be ready in July or August (OF LAST YEAR)!

Man, are those guys slow...

I too would like to see some support for at least Win Media Server, considering it's already a part of the Win Servers.

yes, http streaming is easy and can be done, for both audio and video - I've got a handful of musician clients that stream their audio/video. Just create mp3's or whatever format you want of the songs, and upload them - put links to them and the visitor's computer will decide how to play them.

I'd recommend using mp3's or windows media format. There are free encoding tools available, just do a google search, or go to download.com

Just remember HTTP Streaming uses a lot more server resources than true multicast streaming does, I would not recommend using it for any site thats fairly "busy".

jmbeach, thanks for the reply! I thought it would be that simple, seems as though I did that with a video clip once.

Brangwyn, Thanks for the heads up, I doubt this client will have a whole lot of traffic, but if it looks like there is going to be a problem, we'll find another way....there is always another way.

I know a guy who does streaming, however his servers are in NZ and so you would first need to stream the broadcast over here and then out to the world. So im not entirely sure what the costs would be.

why not pull the stream from another host.

you could always get a cheap $8.25/mo account at ci host (or any other host) that offers streaming and pull the stream from there. I was thinking about doing it myself for an account of mine. (Their Unix Super Shared 250MB, 10 GB xfer, 1 FTP is only $8.25).

I left them years ago do to problems with their windows accounts, but their unix were always reliable. (just dont expect any support)
