All the best to everyone from the UK

(where the PC crew have now decreed we can't call 'Christmas lights' -> Christmas lights, but festival of lights so that we don't offend anyone - I think I'm living in a lunatic asylum.... )

Happy Thanksgiving indeed. We had a wonderful one.

I thought of posting here a couple of times but I failed to do so. I am grateful for this board! I'm grateful for all of you who have rescued me from ignorance, dumbness and stupidity. I am happy to have found a great hosting company but the fact is, it's this board and the involvement of the staff and users that make this place wonderful. It appears to me that most here are genuine and care for each other. (Asking about cambodia is the perfect example, someone asked and someone else knew that he had gotten married... that was cool.)

Anyway, I tend to get sentimental at this time of year. We had our smallest Thanksgiving dinner ever and it was one of the greatest. Just my wife, my two sons and myself. No family or friends to "entertain" and no need to put on a false face... it was great! We had a wonderful evening. To top it off, my turkey turned out perfect! I deep fried our turkey this year and went to great length not to screw it up... it worked and we all agreed that it was the best turkey we ever had. (Patting myself on the back.)

I hope each of you have a wonderful thanksgiving.

Thanks David,

Your right of course - this is a 'community' in the real sense of the word We don't have thanks giving here in the UK, but I like the principle of it.... Long may great traditions and family values live!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Garreg do you have a similiar holiday? This is most definitely my most basic thanksgiving ever, but after all the stumps I have had this year I am really trying to make note of all that I do have. Real easy to forget that here in the good old US where so much of our life seems to be all about money.

mrsell: Nope nothing similar here..... We do crazy things like celebrate a Guy who tried to blow up our King and all of the aristocrats a long with the houses of Parliament using gun powder a long time go... by lighting bonfires and letting off fireworks on November the 5th (the busiest night of the year for our fire services as they tend to fire after fire - and our ambulance services as every year people blow bits of fingers off... told you I lived in an a lunatic asylum ).

Personally, I've always refused to leave the house on Christmas day (nothing to do with religion or even Christmas really), simply because that's the one day that I believe we should all sit down as a family and share a meal together....

I've been in the US for Thanksgiving and enjoyed it very much..... long may it continue!

When I was a kid we lived in a rural English village for a while. Guy Fawkes Day is one of the lingering memories. That and public school, gypsy caravans, and the #$%@ cuckoos that go off 24x7 in the spring.
